The 11th Dubrovnik Winter Festival has offered Dubrovnik residents and guests more content than ever before in numerous locations, both those they have become accustomed to in previous years and numerous new magical posts that have left visitors young and old breathless. Santa Claus from Lapland and Saint Nicholas visited numerous locations, cheerful songs and joyful noises have been heard in every corner of the City in the past few days, and it will be no different this weekend and in the new week ahead of you! This Friday, the Winter Festival will be enriched by the Dubrovnik Christmas Concert, which will be held in the Valamar Lacroma at 8 p.m. The concert will be conducted by maestro Ivan Hut, and the traditional performance of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra will be joined on this occasion by the 4 Tenors, sopranos Renata Sabljak and Marija Vidović, and the Blasius choir.
Saturday, December 21st, continues with educational tourist-themed guided tours of the City, in Croatian and English, organized by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. Free tours will start on Saturday at 9:30a.m. (English) and 12:30p.m. (Croatian) in front of the Tourist Information Center in Pile. During December, the "Cod Days" will be held, which include catering facilities, which you can find on the Dubrovnik City Tourist Information Center website. At 10a.m., the "Natural History Christmas Workshop" will continue at the Dubrovnik Natural History Museum.
The colorful winter in the Bay continues with programs called "Holidays Inspired by Nature" led by the Dubrovnik Audiovisual Center (in the Esperanza café), at 12:30p.m. on the beach in Lapad Bay, the Hydro Sailing Club is organizing a Remote Control Sailing Regatta. The Rock Palace Band will entertain all visitors to Lapad Bay at 2p.m. (stage by the fountain).
Saturday morning in the City will be rounded off by a folklore group with a performance in front of the Church of St. Blaise, and at 2 p.m. at the Sajeverni pol Station, Dubrovnik Cinemas are organizing a workshop for the youngest called "Carols of the Dubrovnik Region". The program Waiting for Christmas in Mokošica begins at the Holy Family Parish at 3 p.m. with a workshop for children called "Lighting Christmas Cards" by the Futura Association and the City Technical Culture Society. At 4:30 p.m., the Our Children Society is holding a Christmas creative workshop, followed by a workshop for children and young people by the "Et Ješua" association called "Bethlehem - Making Nativity Scenes and Plaster Figures".
The humanitarian Christmas fair called "Christmas Market" continues in Lazareti (5th nave), and you can visit it from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. In the music hall of the Prince's Palace at 6 p.m., Leto Križanič Žorž will perform with the harp as part of the concert series "Piano & Strings", the program continues at 6:30 p.m. in the park under the bridge at Ploče, where a nativity scene from Sorrento, the city of friends, will be presented, and then at 7 p.m. the fourth Advent candle will be lit in front of the Prince's Palace. At the same time, a play for children directed by Paolo Tišljarić entitled "The Nutcracker" will be performed on the Big Stage of the Marin Držić Theater. From 8 p.m., a special stage treat will be provided on the big stage on Stradun by young music stars Baby Lasagna and Grše, who will entertain the audience with their most famous hits "Mamma mia" and "Rim Tim Tagi Dim".
Sunday, December 22nd begins with the Sorgo Music Workshop at 11a.m. in the Dulčić Masle Pulitika Gallery, where Marija Grazio will give a lecture on the topic Interpretations of Quotes through F. Chopin's Preludes. At the North Pole Station from 2p.m. it will be interesting because they are preparing to make traditional holiday desserts, and from 4p.m. the Christmas market will continue in Lazareti (5th aisle). As part of the TIP TOP program, the Kantunić Art Studio will open a Christmas exhibition at 5 p.m. (TUP CDMO - above the Love Bar), while at 7 p.m. the Marin Držić Theatre will be playing a play for children directed by Paolo Tišljarić "The Nutcracker". The evening concert in front of the Student Dormitory with Advent on Vojnović will be held by Matko and Brane at 8 p.m.
Monday, December 23rd, in front of the Cathedral at 5 p.m., there will be a Living Nativity Scene, organized by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board and the Dubrovnik Diocese, and at 6 p.m., the program from the “Bach&Sorgo&Us” cycle will continue in the Dulčić Masle Pulitika Gallery, featuring the Sorgo Ensemble and Maro Taslaman. Dubrovnik Libraries, in the branch of the City Public Library, will open the International Miniature Exhibition at 7 p.m., and at the same time, a play for children directed by Paolo Tišljarić, “The Nutcracker,” will be played on the Big Stage at the Marin Držić Theater.
Tuesday, December 24th, on Christmas Eve, singing carols will brighten the atmosphere on Stradun and throughout the City; members of FA Linđo and the Libertas choir will traditionally perform along with the Dubrovnik City Music.
Thursday, December 26th, at 12 p.m., the Moto Mrazovi arrive on Stradun, maintaining the tradition year after year and taking to the city streets with their tin pets, cheering up young and old!
Friday, December 27th and the end of the working week is reserved for the TIP TOP TUP program for children and youth, and the first one is “Robotics and Programming Without a Screen” at 3 p.m., led by members of the Futura Association and the Technical Culture Community of the City of Dubrovnik (TUP Pakirnica). The program continues at 4 p.m. with a New Year's card making workshop called “Little Designers” led by the Dubrovnik Audiovisual Center (TUP CDMO – above Love Bar), and at 5 p.m. Maritimo Recycling and the Technical Culture Community of the City of Dubrovnik are organizing “Plastic Recycling” (TUP Plastic Recycling Center). At 8 p.m., the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra will hold a concert in the Church of the Little Brothers with Dubrovnik soloists, klapa groups and choirs entitled “The King of Heaven is Born to Us”, and at the same time, on the stage in front of the Student Dormitory as part of the program Advent on Vojnović, they will sing Jole.
In order to make it as easy as possible for as many people as possible to attend all the programs of the Dubrovnik Winter Festival, the city administration has provided all citizens and guests with free transportation on Libertas buses on city lines in the afternoon and at night. Also, the price of the DU Pass, a joint ticket to the most important Dubrovnik attractions, has been reduced from 35 to just 15 euros, and the price of the ticket for the city walls has also been reduced.
